Hi Simon. I’m in the Hickory area and a member of a couple of clubs. I’ve been doing most of my flying at Hunting Creek RC over in Wilkes County about 20 miles north of Stateville. Currently 3 of us are flying simplecopter.com designs, and are just starting to dabble in fpv. Right now most of the fpv is fixed wing, but our goal is to be try to be ready to race quads and tricopters this summer. The Hunting Creek field will be a great site for that. The club owns 4+ acres there and there are many more acres of farm fields we are able to fly over. Maybe we’ll be able to have an event before the year is out. Anyway, just wanted to join up here to let you folks know we are there ane to keep up with what is going on around this part of the state. Good job on the site, and thanks for putting it together.

Welcome to the site.
If you’d like to provide more info about the clubs your in, I’ll them to the list.
If you have addresses of places you guys fly, that would be great too.
Any help and information you guys can provide is more than welcome and is the only way I can keep the lists up to date.
Once we are more established in Matthews, I hope we’ll be having some events as well.
We currently meet every Sunday at Windsor Park in Matthews if anyone ever feels the urge to come visit! There are people there 3pm onwards.
We are also in the middle of setting up a new HUGE location with multiple tracks and large open space for fixed wing and larger multicopter as well as 250 race tracks.
Its not a location we can share yet, but as soon as we can, I’ll let you know.

Simon, my home club was West Hickory Aeromodelers, but we lost that field this past summer to a solar farm. It had been a model field since the mid ’60s, and we had been there since 1980, so it was a big loss.
I have since been flying at Hunting Creek RC, 3846 Hunting Creek Rd. North Wilkesboro, NC. That’s a bit of a drive for me, but an excellent field with lots of open farm land surrounding it. There are several of us flying multi rotors there and dabbling in fpv just this winter.
I have also recently joined Caldwell Aeromodelers at Hudson, NC which is only about 20 minutes from home, but I have not flown there yet, and don’t really know how those folks feel about copters and fpv. Hopefully I can fill you in on that soon.
