Is muti-copter racing coming of age? Mathews Township thinks so. You’ve probably seen the videos of drones racing around a track at amazing speed using first person view camera system called FPV Racing. If you haven’t, you need to do a search on YouTube and watch some of the amazing footage.
If its an adrenaline rush your looking for, slap on a pair of FPV goggles, grab your radio and take control of 250 size quadcopter racing machine. There’s nothing quiet like it to get your blood flowing.
Matthews Township just outside Charlotte in North Carolina have designated a section of Windsor Park to the sport. An beautiful wooded area five miles outside Charlotte with a creek, playground and small lake called Windsor Park. The park has its own Facebook Page if you want to find out more.
The first meet was just a coupe of weeks ago by the Matthews FPC Racig club.
Come out and watch the fun with David and the crew from the newly formed Mathews FPV Racers club. Just remember, these quads are fast and flown by humans which means they can go out of control. If you plan on coming to to watch, be very cautious and stay well away from the track. Eventually there will be markers and signs informing you of the boundaries and making sure everything stays under control, but for now just listen to the people flying the quads.
There is even a playground for the kids to hang out on while you watch the racing.
You’ll find dates and event details on the events page and a couple of videos below:
